What is PDFFILZ?

PDFFILZ is a free toolkit for everyday PDF work: combining documents, pulling out a few pages, shrinking a file that is too big to email, converting photos into a PDF, and stamping or numbering pages before you send them on.

The difference from most online PDF sites is simple: your document never leaves your device. Everything happens inside this page, so a contract, a payslip or a medical scan stays exactly where it is.

The problem with most PDF tools

Almost every "free" online PDF tool works the same way: you upload a sensitive document — a contract, a payslip, a medical record, a lease — to a server you don't control, wait in a queue, and hope it's deleted afterward. The trade-off is privacy for convenience, and most people don't realise what they're giving up until it's too late. Desktop apps avoid this, but they cost money, are tied to one machine, and don't work on a phone.

Meanwhile, a handful of offline PDF apps have proved there's real demand for a fast, private, free PDF toolkit — but they're native apps locked to one platform, with no web presence and no way to reach the billions of people who just open a browser tab to get something done.

The PDFFILZ solution

PDFFILZ is a privacy-first PDF and file toolkit that runs entirely in the browser. Nothing is uploaded — every merge, split, compression, rotation, signature, redaction, conversion, and even video compression is processed on your own device with a WebAssembly-powered PDF engine. The file never leaves your browser, which means a contract stays a contract and a medical scan stays a medical scan.

It works on any device with a modern browser — phone, tablet, or laptop — installs as a PWA for offline use, and keeps the same fast, touch-friendly interface everywhere. There is no queue, no sign-up wall, and no server that sees your documents.

Who it's for

  • Professionals handling sensitive documents — lawyers, accountants, doctors, HR staff — who can't risk uploading a contract or a payslip to a random website.
  • Casual users who just need to merge a few PDFs or compress a file to email — without installing a desktop app or creating an account.
  • Students and freelancers — merging assignments, converting photos to PDF, compressing files to email, signing documents — all free, all private.
  • Anyone who's been burned by an ad-heavy, upload-everything PDF site and wants something that just respects them and their files.

How it works

Nothing is uploaded

There is no server that receives your documents. Files are opened, edited and saved by your own browser.

Real editing, not a preview

Pages are rebuilt with a full PDF engine, so merges, rotations and stamps are written into the real file.

Works without a connection

Once the page has loaded, every tool keeps working offline — handy on a plane or a bad hotel Wi-Fi.

Phone-first design

The same touch-friendly page grid runs on a phone, a tablet and a laptop, and installs as an app.

Everything in the box

Free, with an optional Pro plan

Every tool is free to use each day. Pro removes the daily limit and the file size cap for people who work with documents all day long — it keeps the project running without ads or selling data, because there is no data to sell.
